Legend Island is the kind of place you notice long before you're allowed to drive there. It sits off the south-east side of the map, teasing you from a distance while the rest of Japan is wide open for cruising, racing, and earning FH6 Credits through regular festival events. You can't just build a fast car, find a bridge, and force your way across. The island is locked behind proper Horizon Festival progress, so if you're still early in the game, it's best to treat it as a long-term goal rather than something to rush in one evening.

What Makes Legend Island Different

This isn't just another small bonus area with a few roads and a pretty view. Legend Island works more like an endgame zone. Once it opens, you get a separate festival outpost, harder races, fresh PR stunts, bonus boards, and some routes that feel built for players who've already spent plenty of time tuning, testing, and messing up corners at high speed. The island also connects to major late-game events, including the Legend Island Circuit and The Colossus. That last one is a huge endurance race across the freeway network, and it's not the sort of event you want to enter with a half-finished build.

The Main Unlock Requirements

The key thing to understand is that Discover Japan progress doesn't unlock Legend Island. A lot of players assume it does, because that storyline feels important, but the island is tied to the main Horizon Festival path instead. You need to build up your Wristband rank and reach the Gold Wristband. To get there, you'll need 32,500 Horizon Festival Points, then you'll need to clear The Colossus. So the order is simple enough: earn points, reach Gold, win the big race. Simple doesn't mean quick, though. This is a grind, and the game clearly expects you to touch most of its event types before handing over access.

Getting Points Without Burning Out

If you're trying to move fast, don't just run random events and hope the bar fills. Pick activities that give good progress for the time spent. Speed Traps, Speed Zones, and Drift Zones are usually worth doing early because they're short and repeatable. A clean run can take less than a minute, and if you know the road, you can keep improving without wasting much time. Races still matter, especially if you're winning, but long events can slow the grind if the reward isn't strong enough. It helps to keep a few tuned cars ready: one for grip, one for drifting, and one built for outright speed.

Be Ready for The Colossus

The Colossus is where a lot of players get humbled. It's long, fast, and easy to throw away with one bad crash. Don't bring a car that only looks good on paper. You'll want stable braking, strong tyres, sensible gearing, and enough top speed to survive the freeway sections. A balanced hypercar or AWD build is usually safer than something wild and twitchy. Once Legend Island opens, it becomes one of the best places to test high-end builds, chase rewards, and expand your garage with stronger FH6 Cars while taking on the toughest festival content the game has to offer.
